Formaldehyde Emission of Wood Based Panel Policy
Spacekoncept view on formaldehyde in furniture
Formaldehyde is a colorless gas with a pungent odor that is commonly used in the manufacturing of furniture, particularly in the production of composite wood products like plywood, particleboard, and MDF. These materials are used to make furniture such as cabinets, tables, bookcases, and chairs.
At Spacekoncept, we prioritize creating healthier homes by sourcing and selecting low-formaldehyde materials for our products. We understand the impact that indoor air quality has on your well-being, especially in newly renovated homes where off-gassing from materials can release harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including formaldehyde, into the air.
To combat this, we only work with OEM Manufacturers that utilize premium, low-formaldehyde wood-based materials which complies with the highest formaldehyde emission standards.
The grade of Formaldehyde Emission of Wood Based Panels are E0, E1, E2 .
E0, E1, E2 are the Formaldehyde Emission standards for PLYWOOD , MDF, HDF, Particleboard, OSB, veneered plywood, blockboard, melamine faced board, floor.
Grading
Formaldehyde free as defined under EPA TSCA is no higher than 0.0499 mg/l.
E0 is the amount of formaldehyde released less than or equal to 0.5 mg/l.
E1 is the amount of formaldehyde released less than or equal to 9.0mg/100g. 18X more than E0.
E2 is the amount of formaldehyde released less than or equal to 30.0mg/100g. 60X more than E0.
According to the national compulsory standard GB18580-2001<Limit of Formaldehyde Emission of Wood-based Panels and Finishing Products>, all wood-based panels should meet E1 or E2 grade.
Our manufactured woods used in our products including particle boards are graded E0 grade with formaldehyde emissions not higher than 0.0499mg/L.
